In World of Warcraft

Agent Kearnen first appears as a level 22 quest giver located outside the tower in the Southeastern part of the Dust Plains in the human territory of Westfall. According to her journal she is an SI:7 Ground Level Operative, R8. (R8 most likely stands for Rank 8.)

In Cataclysm

This section concerns content exclusive to Cataclysm.

During the time of Cataclysm, Agent Kearnen widens her assistance to any Alliance adventurers (not only rogues).

In Mists of Pandaria

This section concerns content exclusive to Mists of Pandaria.

Amber Kearnen appears as part of a chain of quests in The Jade Forest, where her sniping skills are put to the test. Players take control of her for the quest SI:7 Report: Take No Prisoners, as she narrates an account of what happened with her squad of SI:7 operatives. She is also present during the Siege of Orgrimmar, shortly after the defeat of Malkorok.

In Warlords of Draenor

This section concerns content exclusive to Warlords of Draenor.

She makes an appearance in Warlords of Draenor, stationed at the Lunarfall Garrison. She is also stationed at Malo's Lookout where she had been scouting ahead and keeping a close eye out for any enemies.

In Legion

This section concerns content exclusive to Legion.

Amber Kearnen's body is found as part of a Rogue Order Hall quest chain (starts with A Body of Evidence), where you investigate her death. The trail of evidence and talk among SI:7 agents indicates she was killed by her own organization on orders of Mathias Shaw. However, this turned out to be false as The Uncrowned went undercover and were able to uncover the truth on how she was killed. It turns out that it was Detheroc, who had disguised himself as Shaw, ordered Kearnen's death. Her death was avenged when Mathias and an agent of the Uncrowned were able to slay Detheroc, and her body buried.
