Baleful

This article concerns content exclusive to Warlords of Draenor.

Baleful is a special item prefix and item property (like Warforged) that was added in Patch 6.2. These items all start out as item level 650 and can either be Bind on Pickup or Bind to Account. The source Baleful items can be consumed to create items of at least item level 650 without the Baleful prefix, but with the Baleful item property.

They are special in that there are various means to upgrade only items with the Baleful item property.

Each time a baleful item is consumed to create a piece of gear, the resulting piece of gear has a chance to spontaneously upgrade to an item level anywhere between 655 and 695 (in increments of 5).

Patch changes

• Patch 6.2.0 (23-Jun-2015): Added.
  
• Patch 6.2.3 (17-Oct-2015): Baleful items now have a chance to create items ranging in quality from item level 655 to 695 in 5-item-level increments, with a progressively lower chance as item level increases.
