In the book The Shattering: Prelude to Cataclysm, it was revealed that Brink is a member of SI:7. Along with King Varian Wrynn and several other members of SI:7 he participated in a mission to liberate the city of Ironforge from Moira Thaurissan's "hostile takeover/legitimate claim to the throne".

Though the mission didn't end quite the way they'd planned, Brink displayed astounding skill in both the arts of stealth and combat, even yawning once during a short break in the fighting, which might indicate that he was used to such dangerous exploits.
