The Brotherhood of the Light is a subsection of the Argent Dawn's ranks. Commander Eligor Dawnbringer is a member — as is a massive warrior named Korfax. Eligor Dawnbringer manages to keep relations between the Argent Dawn and the Scarlet Crusade from growing violent. The smaller group has recently formed.[1] (DF 125-126) The Brotherhood of the Light is a compromise between the Argent Dawn's more scholarly approach to fighting the Scourge and the Scarlet Crusade's fanaticism. Talking to several members of this group reveals that they have a clearly different code of ethics and morals than their brethren of the Argent Dawn — while maintaining an objective view which the Scarlet Crusade loses with their zealotry. The Brotherhood of the Light's representatives can be found and addressed in Light's Hope Chapel.

The Brotherhood's true intentions remain unclear. Upon killing Kel'Thuzad, players may loot his phylactery and return it to Father Inigo Montoy in Light's Hope Chapel. He promises to turn it over to the Argent Dawn. However, it never reaches them. The player is left to wonder if the Brotherhood may have kept it for safe keeping, destroyed it, may secretly be in an alliance with the Scourge, or have some other use for its power. It is also possible that the Brotherhood does not have the phylactery at all, and that Montoy is secretly serving a third party.

In Wrath of the Lich King, it is revealed that Montoy was indeed serving Kel'Thuzad, though the archlich's influence on the rest of the Brotherhood is as of yet uncertain. But since several other members joined the battle in Northrend, such as Eligor and Korfax and their continued service to the Argent Crusade in Cataclysm, it is unlikely that they knew about Montoy's treachery.
Presence in Azeroth[]
The only known outposts of the Brotherhood of the Light are at Light's Hope Chapel, within Stratholme, and possibly in Tyr's hand after it is cleared out of undead Scarlet Crusaders.
