Cap of the Scarlet Savant is a quest reward from the quest Cap of the Scarlet Savant which starts with Malyfous's Catalogue in Everlook in Winterspring. To complete the quest, you must turn the following items to Malyfous Darkhammer:
- 1 Pristine Hide of the Beast
- 5 Frayed Abomination Stitchings
- 8 Arcane Crystals
- 5 Enchanted Scarlet Threads

- The Pristine Hide of the Beast is skinned off The Beast by a level 310 skinner. Frayed Abomination Stitchings drop off the abominations in Stratholme. Arcane Crystals can be bought from the Auction House or mined from Rich Thorium Veins. Enchanted Scarlet Thread drop off some of the mini-bosses in Stratholme. All of these materials can be collected without having the quest.
- Due to its connection to the Scarlet Crusade, it is rumored that the pattern of this item was originally invented by Archmage Timolain.
- Until Patch 1.6 which brought Blackwing Lair and Mish'undare, Circlet of the Mind Flayer, this item was the only head piece with 2% spellcrit for cloth wearers.
