He wasn't the first Warlord of the Twilight's Hammer clan, but he appears in Warlords of Draenor as part of the Shadow Council. Players first encounter Cho'gall during the Assault on the Dark Portal in the Tanaan Jungle, where he is being used by the Iron Horde as one of three conduits to power the Portal. Players free him along with Teron'gor and Gul'dan. He is later encountered in Oshu'gun, trying to draw the powers of a fallen Naaru. Cho'gall is taken prisoner in the Ogre city of Highmaul.

In the Highmaul raid, Cho'gall breaks out of his prison. His pale orc army takes advantage of the chaos that players create in the arena and launch a sneak attack on Highmaul to cover his escape. Players carve a swath through Highmaul's defenders and Cho'gall's corrupted up to High Imperator Mar'gok.

On the hardest difficulty of the Highmaul Raid, mythic, a secret boss encounter with Cho'gall is included in the Imperator Mar'gok fight. Players are unable to finish off Imperator Mar'gok as Cho'gall interferes and kills Mar'gok in a bid to claim Highmaul's legendary stones of power. He turns the stones against the players and fights the raid. Ultimately the players win the battle: Cho'gall dies at the end of the encounter. It is possible that this is the end of alternate Draenor's Cho'gall.[1]
