But soon after the Legion's arrival, a drogbar leader named Dargrul the Underking destroyed their unity and stole the Hammer of Khaz'goroth, a powerful artifact protected by the Highmountain tauren. Using the terrible power of the Hammer, the Underking intends to take control of Highmountain.

When the Burning Legion returned to Azeroth, Dargrul attended a meeting at Thunder Totem with tauren chieftains. Where a tauren Spiritwalker Ebonhorn revealed that the spirits in Neltharion's Lair told him that Hammer of Khaz'goroth should be given to outlanders. Since the Highmountain tauren and drogbar are tasked with protecting the Hammer without using it. Dargrul was outraged when he heard this, he said that Huln Highmountain used the Hammer long ago to banish Deathwing from Broken Isles. Ebonhorn said that people of Highmountain must help the outlanders. Ulan Highmountain and other chieftains agreed that they should obey the spirits. Without a warning, Dargrul leapt forward and grabbed the Hammer. His bodyguard used magic to summon sipkes that caged other chieftains while Dargrul was trying to escape. He nearly made it but was stopped by Ulan Highmountain, without thinking, Dargrul used Hammer's powers to kill the chieftain and run away.

Dargrul is the most powerful Underking since the age of Neltharion. Believing he has the only right to wield the power of Khaz'goroth, Dargrul murdered High Chieftain Ulan and seized the artifact from the Highmountain tauren. Now, he uses the hammer's power to devastate the region and any who oppose him.
