This article contains lore taken from Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal, the manuals, and official bonus maps.

Dun Argath is located in Khaz Modan. This is where the Orcish Horde built an outpost in order to gather enough oil to construct numerous transports. With these transports they could ferry many more troops across the channel to the mainland.

This is the second mission of the Orc Campaign in the game demo of Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness.

Briefing[]

With the new outpost keeping close watch over the human encampment, a Horde strikeforce has been able to enter the region. A large amount of oil must be secured to construct the transports that will carry the Horde's warriors across the channel to the unsuspecting humans.

You must construct four Oil Derricks and guard them from the Alliance naval forces so that the construction of these transports can begin.

Objectives[]

  • Build a shipyard
  • Build four oil rigs
Comparison

Map comparison of Twilight Highlands and Dun Argath. Note the similar placement of island, shoreline, and river in both maps.

Speculation[]

Questionmark-medium
This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

As the name suggests Dun Argath is located somewhere in Khaz Modan. Alternatively, it may represent an early production name (beta information) for one of the "Duns" established in the retail release of Warcraft II. Dun Algaz or Dun Modr as examples. If the latter is the case, then it would mean the area was renamed before the retail version of the game was released. Also, it should be noted that the island alliance town Highbank in the new Cataclysm zone Twilight Highlands greatly resembles the southeastern island in Dun Argath.
