The Ettin are a race of primitive two headed giants native to Azeroth, living in Silverpine Forest and mountains around Gilneas and Redridge and Highmountain. One of these creatures came down in search of food, killing many mountain sheep. This ettin was stopped and slain by the worgen players. Another of these creatures was subdued by the Forsaken.
Several of these giants wandered the hills of Redridge Mountains, one of them was subdued and used to lift a heavy bolder from Foreman Oslow. They - along with the ogres - seem to fight for the Twilight's Hammer clan. One of the bosses in Grim Batol is an ettin that specializes in weaponry. They seem to favor swinging giant blunt weapons or hurling massive objects at their foes.
Named[]
Trivia[]
- They used the gronn model as a placeholder during the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm demos.
- The Ettin also appear in Manual of Monsters Appendix Three, however the validity of this source is disputed.
Inspiration[]
Name Ettin is an archaic English cognate to Old Norse Jötunn (giant of Norse mythology).
There are Ettins with similar physique in the Dungeons & Dragons and Narnia.
