Focus Magic is a Mage talent spell obtained by investing points in the Arcane tree. It was introduced in Patch 3.0.2.
It gives a single target at a time 3% increased chance to critically hit with spells only. When the target critically hits with a spell, the buff's caster also gains 3% increased chance to critically hit with spells during 10 seconds.
Tips and tactics[]
This is the single raid buff the Arcane tree gives to the Mage, and while it may seem weak in comparison to the other trees' Improved Scorch and Winter's Chill, it has merit in that it stacks with every single other raid buff and makes the Arcane Mage a more desirable choice than a Mage of another specialization when either of those buffs are already present in a raid (given equal skill/gear/spec dedication).
Notes[]
- The buff-granted effect will stack with the proc-granted effect, so you can have it cast on you and cast it on someone else to gain a total 6% spell critical strike chance. It cannot, however, be self-cast.
- It grants only critical strike chance to spells, so melee and ranged attacks and abilities will not benefit from or trigger the effect.
- It can be casted on friendly NPC:s. It is useless, however, because NPCs can't score critical hit with spells.
