:This list is retarded, none of these are advantages. Curse has professional support staff, an amazing infrastructure, you can become an admin on Wowpedia, who cares about shared login or Wikia-only features, Wowpedia has the language links too, and wtf is mindshare? --{{User:Pcj/sig}} 20:42, December 11, 2010 (UTC)

Forums: Index WoWWiki general Current advantages of WoWWiki

Yes, there are some. The disadvantages have been talked about alot already, so lets flip the coin...

  • WoWWiki has mindshare. The ignorant, nostalgic, or Wikia lovers will probably continue to visit WoWWiki.
  • Language links. Several alternate language based versions of WoWWiki have been created and can easily interwiki link.
  • Wikia-only features. This is mostly a plus. If Wikia would give more control over new features it might be all plus.
  • Good infrastructure. All the work put into WoWWiki so far is not for nothing.
  • Professional support. Not a huge plus, but sometimes paid support staff can be more responsive.
  • Opportunity to become an admin. With most of the old admins gone, if you want to try to be an admin here, you have a good chance.
  • WoWRP sister site for fanfic and RP. WoWWiki doesn't have to be as draconian about managing fanfic and RP because users can be directed to WoWRP easily.
  • Shared login with other Wikia wikis. This is not exactly true, but it could be.

That's my list so far. Please DO NOT start listing disadvantages if you want to add to this list. If you want to do that, make a new post. --Gengar orange 22x22Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 11:13 AM PST 11 Dec 2010

On the Shared Login point, what's not quite true about that? If you register on WoWWiki, you can login on Stupid Wiki or The Vault or any other Wikia wiki with the same name. --Kris talk 19:50, December 11, 2010 (UTC)
