Based on Forum:Should WoWWiki leave Wikia, there appears to be community support for moving WoWWiki to a different host. We have now begun the process of copying the current content over to a different host.

What is being copied?

The current plan is to move the entire revision history of all articles and images. There are also plans to ensure that people with accounts here will be able to keep their usernames on the new wiki.

Update: we've copied article revisions up to a specific date (2010-10-18 21:29 UTC); images would have to be transferred over by hand. Edits made after that date will not be carried over

Where are we going?

It'll be a new domain name, which will be announced when the new wiki is ready.

When will the new wiki be ready?

Soon; the current intention is "before BlizzCon."

Do I need to do anything?

No; you can continue editing WoWWiki -- there is a plan to transfer subsequent edits to the new wiki.

U: If you've registered on WoWWiki prior to 2010-10-14, you can use the same username on wowpedia after "reclaiming" your account.

What if I want close my Wikia account?: While Wikia does not close accounts, you can place {{Delete my user pages}} on your user page and a bot will get around to deleting it (and any subpages you may have).

I can confirm that there is an issue affecting multiple (but not all) accounts at the moment. A fix is in the pipeline, and will probably be applied later today. Hang in there :) -- foxlit (talk) 18:47, October 20, 2010 (UTC)

This wiki is not closing
