Ga'nar is the son of Geyah and Garad and the older brother of Durotan, making him Thrall's uncle.[1] He makes an appearance in the alternate timeline of Draenor.
Ga'nar is first encountered by the Horde expedition in the slave pits of the Iron Horde in Tanaan Jungle, where he and Drek'thar are held captive. After the destruction of the Dark Portal, he and Drek'thar lead the Horde adventurers and Thrall to Frostfire Ridge to meet up with the rest of the Frostwolf Clan. After arriving in Frostfire Ridge, he tries to encourage his clan to make a move on the Bladespire clan.

What happens to Ga'nar before adventurers go through the newly redirected Dark Portal to help stem the Iron Tide is not known, but many of the events and exchanges between him and Durotan before his ultimate demise are witnessed by Horde adventurers after he is freed from the Iron Horde in Tanaan Jungle.

- Although he is the older brother of Durotan, Durotan became chieftain of the clan instead of him when Garad died. The reasons for this in the main timeline are currently unknown, but explained in the alternate timeline Draenor in the fight with the Iron Horde.
