Gar'Thok in The Frozen Throne.
During the founding of Durotar, Gar'Thok served as Nazgrel's lieutenant and was in charge of watching over the Outpost of Razor Hill in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. When the Mok'Nathal Rexxar arrived Gar'Thok informed him of the Quilboar problem they had, Rexxar then quickly dealt with the problem and by using the Observatory had discovered that armed humans had gathered on the shores of Durotar. While Rexxar and company quickly departed to inform Thrall of the approaching humans, Gar'Thok remained behind. He was unfortunate enough to be present when his outpost was attacked by sailors from Kul Tiras, who slew his men brutally.

Having somehow survived the fall of the outpost, he stayed in Razor Hill instructing young members of the Horde to deal with Durotar's problems and presence of Northwatch army.

During the Alliance-Horde War, Gar'Thok saw how corrupt Garrosh Hellscream was becoming and was one of the dissident orcs that stood against him. When the Darkspear Rebellion began to retake Razor Hill, Gar'Thok was found caged by Kor'krons because they did not like that he was still working with the Darkspear. After he was soon released by Horde adventurers that were aiding the trolls in taking the outpost, Gar'Thok joined the rebellion and informed them that Garrosh was caging all the dissidents - even orcs.
