Take control of the Heart of Azeroth—a legendary neck piece entrusted to you by Magni Bronzebeard. Imbue it with Azerite, an invaluable resource that’s emerged in the Legion’s wake, to customize your armor with new powers and traits.[1]

Heart of Azeroth artifact

The Heart of Azeroth is an artifact that allows players to empower specific equipment (rare or better) using [Azerite]. It is provided by Magni Bronzebeard at the beginning of the Battle for Azeroth expansion and takes the place of existing Artifact Weapons.

The Heart serves as the focal point of progression. When in proximity to azerite, it absorbs the resource, becoming stronger. Players may use this growing power to "awaken" abilities in their armor.

Abilities are tied to the item they are unlocked on; the strength of the power is directly proportional to the item as well. The power of the Heart is not wasted, however, when a player receives a new potential piece of equipment, as the spent power can be transferred over (i.e. if two items with the same slot have similar item level, the player will not lose any unlocked tiers; they'll simply carry over to the new item).
