Island of Doctor Lapidis is an island in the South Seas off the coast of Stranglethorn Vale. It is located north of Gillijim's Isle. It is a jungle troll island that is currently not in World of Warcraft although it appears on the World of Warcraft World Map released in 2006. It also appears in the intro cinematic for World of Warcraft and in several maps throughout the Warcraft RPG, for example the book Monster Guide Web Supplement of 2007. It has also appeared on a map in the World of Warcraft comic.
The name, inspired by The Island of Doctor Moreau, is a reference to Alen Lapidis, a former Blizzard employee and environment designer during World of Warcraft's initial development. Lapidis had a penchant for consuming Diet Pepsi, for which "Tidesippe" is an anagram. Also named for Lapidis are (1) Lapidis Tankard of Tidesippe, and (2) Caretaker Alen.
