The Isle of Dread

is located south of Feathermoon Stronghold. It is home to many level 60-62 elite chimaera. One notable chimaera, Lord Lakmaeran, is part of the quest line for the Scepter of the Shifting Sands.

The isle is also home to a group of naga who dwell in a cave at the northern end. They are led by Lord Shalzaru, whom players are asked to kill as a quest for Feathermoon Stronghold. The cave itself seems to be completely unique in design and goes quite deep. There is a secret underwater passageway that leads into an inner chamber, although it has no apparent special uses besides being the location in which Lady Szallah resides. The only entrance to the central valley is in the southeastern part of the island, from all other sides the central valley is inaccessible due to unyielding cliffs.

In World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, the Isle of Dread has been sunk by the tidal waves unleashed by the worldwide sundering. Nearby Feathermoon Stronghold was also damaged and abandoned, and a new Feathermoon Stronghold was built on the mainland of Feralas.
