Level scaling is a game mechanic introduced with Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Inlinegfx/img_link_data.json' not found. Legion that first only was available in the starting zones of the Broken Isles (excluded the Broken Shore). The essence of this feature is that item drops and rewards, mobs, and quests scale to the level of the character. A more limited version of this feature was introduced with Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Inlinegfx/img_link_data.json' not found. Warlords of Draenor, but only applied level 90 to 100 characters in Draenor zones besides non-intro part of Tanaan Jungle. This feature also appeared for level 110 to 120 characters in the following Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Inlinegfx/img_link_data.json' not found. Battle for Azeroth expansion for Kul Tiras and Zandalar zones as well as Island Expeditions.[citation needed]

Leveling zones from 1–100 will dynamically scale to your character's level for a certain range.[1]
- Starting Zones: 1-60
- Classic Zones: (Base Zone Level[citation needed] or 1)-60[2]
- Outland: 58-80[3]
- Northrend: 58-80[3]
- Cataclysm Zones: (Base Zone Level[citation needed] or 80)-90[2][3]
- Pandaria: 80-90{[2]
- Draenor: 90-100[3]

At BlizzCon 2017, Ion Hazzikostas announced, at the World of Warcraft - What's Next panel, that level scaling would be coming to all of Azeroth (and other worlds like Outland and Draenor), but lower level zones would have scaling ranges appropriate to the expansion.
