In World of Warcraft

This section concerns content exclusive to World of Warcraft.

Locations in World of Warcraft fall under several levels of classification:

• Worlds (sometimes also Realms, in the sense of parallel worlds)
  • Continents
    • Zones (also called regions)
      • Subzones
      • Cities
      • Towns
      • Instances

To reference a certain location you can use coordinates or a map. Many locations can be found easily with WoW Cartographe.

In Warcraft RPG

This section concerns content exclusive to the Warcraft RPG, and thus unlikely to be canon.

In the various incarnations of the Warcraft RPG, locations have more varied classifications that are less systematic and more resemble historical and geographical designations.
