This is a silly article

This article is silly. Coming from a source other than the computer games, trading card game, novels, RPG, or manga, its content is not part of official Warcraft lore, but nevertheless has become part of the culture belonging to the World of Warcraft community.

For Mankrik's real wife, see Olgra.

Mankrik's Wife refers to the quest "Lost in Battle" in the Barrens, in which Mankrik asks you to find his wife, who fell in battle.

Mankrik's wife is very far away from him, and he offers almost no directions to her location. There is also no NPC called "Mankrik's Wife", as she is called "Beaten Corpse". This results in almost everyone accepting this quest resorting to asking for her location in Barrens general chat. This becomes extremely annoying, as Horde characters spend large amounts of time in the Barrens, and hearing the same question repeated over and over and over again tends to drive the somewhat more experienced players a tad irritable.

Wowhead Mankrik's Wife

The result of a Wowhead search for "Mankrik's Wife".

Repeated requests for the location of Mankrik's Wife have resulted in responses that vary wildly in accuracy — some place her quite close to her actual location (though such responses are probably given out of pity for the lost player), while others — depending on the prevailing mood — attempt to send players to far-off, hard-to-reach (or often totally impossible to reach) places (such as 'Inside Blackrock Mountain' or 'Next to Illidan's Throne'). Even the World of Warcraft general database Wowhead has answered this question, pointing out the location very clearly should the user type in "Mankrik's Wife" into the search engine.

On many realms "Mankrik's Wife" has also become a generic response to general chat questions involving quest-givers, merchants, etc. For example:

Player 1: "Where do you train Shadow bolt?"
Player 2: "Mankrik's Wife."

Many people who begin blood elves often ask in General Chat for the location of the Shrine of Dath'Remar. A handful of people have recently dubbed this "The Shrine of Mankrik's Wife"

Among the facts about High Overlord Saurfang, one of them is "Mankrik's wife made the mistake of telling Saurfang that Sword Specialization is superior to Axe Specialization".

Cataclysm[]

Near the time of the Cataclysm, Mankrik will finally recover and bury his wife, ending the legend.[1]

In the Thousand Needles in ghost form Tony Two-Tusk says, "Didn't take me long to build a pirate empire out of almost nothing. Ah, the Barrens. Now those were the days. Hey, did anyone ever find out what happened with Mankrik's wife?"
