Master Shang Xi is the first pandaren players encounter when beginning their adventures upon the Wandering Isle. He is found at the top of the hill within the Shang Xi Training Grounds

, but meets players further along the way as they complete his quests.

He appears as a quest giver within the Temple of Five Dawns, revealing to beginning pandaren that something is wrong with Shen-zin Su, the turtle that the Wandering Isle sits atop. He charges players with finding the ancient spirits and returning them to the Temple. Later, when players have proven their worth at the Elders' Path, he serves as a quest giver within the Wood of Staves before he passes his wisdom to his greatest student (you) and dies.
