He is an arcanist who seeks to slake his racial magic addiction by feeding off of the energies released during the creation of Arcanums, powerful magic gems invented by Mathredis's deceased master, Kariel Winthalus, who was murdered in Dire Maul while attempting to gain knowledge from the Shen'dralar ancients therein.
While his master's three most powerful arcanums are beyond his abilities, Mathredis can create the Lesser Arcanums of Constitution, Resilience, Rumination, Tenacity and Voracity when provided with the proper librams and magical materials.

Mathredis has been missing since the Cataclysm, and unlike most of Flame Crest's former residents, he does not appear in Blackrock Depths. His current status is unknown.
