Mechagon is a new zone coming in Patch 8.2 Rise of Azshara.[1] At BlizzCon 2018, Senior Game Designer Jeremy Feasel revealed the new zone and how it will be accessed. Current players in World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth may have come across a Gnome in Tiragarde Sound staring at a large locked vault door which appears to be made from gnomish technology. In the upcoming update, the vault door will be open and inside is a transponder. Goblins and Gnomes alike will be attempting to discover where it leads to. Once enabled, the transponder will allow travel to the new zone of Mechagon, the ancient lost city of the Gnomes.[1]
The city is ruled by King Mechagon and his killer robots. Players will begin their adventure in the Junker Wastes where the Junker gnomes - a sub-race of Mechagnomes - are being kept out of the city by the robots. These gnomes will become a new friendly race to both Alliance and Horde alike. Players will be tasked with helping them retake their home.[1]
The zone includes a large, + Mythic-only 8 boss dungeon (called a "megadungeon") in which the final boss will be
King Mechagon himself.[1]
