Drops[]
This item can be looted from many level 67-71 Elemental, and Beast monsters in Netherstorm: Ray types, Mana Wyrm types, Mana wraith (elemental) types, Warp Aberration and Warp Monstrosity types.
Some Rays elsewhere (Blade's Edge Mountains, Shadowmoon Valley) also drop these, as do magical elemental type mobs in Karazhan. Rarely (3%), some particular mobs in Zangarmarsh have been reported to drop them: Lagoon Eels, Bloodscale Sentries, and Bloodthirsty Marshfangs. Shimmerscale Eels, in Terokkar Forest have even more rarely (1%) been reported to drop them. They also drop from Erratic Sentries fairly frequently while doing the daily quest Erratic Behavior on the Isle of Quel'Danas.
It can also be obtained with a high drop chance from Angered Nether-wraiths that spawn as a result of creating Spellcloth.
Harvesting[]
Netherbloom and Netherdust Bush also deliver these on occasion. Netherdust Bushes are found on Netherwing Ledge, in Shadowmoon Valley.
Engineers with the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor can harvest a variable amount (1-3, occasionally more) of motes from an Arcane Vortex in Netherstorm.
