Nothgrin was an orc warlock heard of a few years before the First War.

History[]

Some time after the Opening of the Dark Portal, Medivh ordered his new assistant, the young Khadgar, to follow him. They both used their own gryphon for the travel, which was the very day Medivh had come back from a two-week trip away from his reclusive spire of Karazhan.

As they arrived above the Black Morass, they saw a wrecked caravan, burnt to ashes, and a volley of arrows suddenly pierced through Khadgar's mount's wing. As he tripped over the uneven-winged beast, he fell on the ground painfully. He was attacked by a small band of orcs, the first true ones he had ever seen. Khadgar killed some and tried to scare off the rest until the warlock Nothgrin showed up. As he came to assist his soldiers in fighting Khadgar, he challenged the latter to a magic duel.

Then came Khadgar's savior, Medivh, burning away the remaining orcs and killing Nothgrin just as he was about to reveal that he recognized Medivh. Nothgrin's last words were "Nothgrin knows you, human. You are the one…" before he was swept upward by Medivh's magic and burned.[1]
