This documents details and speculation for a patch that could have been implemented during Mists of Pandaria, before the release of Warlords of Draenor.

Patch 5.5.0 was only ever a rumor, but was still a possibility according to Dave Kosak, in order to have a restored Orgrimmar appear before the next expansion.[1] However, toward the end of the Mists of Pandaria expansion, indicators from official blogs suggested the next patch would be Patch 6.0.0.[2]

It was suggested that Patch 5.5.0 was 'canceled'. However, the pre-Warlords of Draenor patch (6.0.2) was eventually released instead, with the intention of bridging the gap between Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor.
