Proficiency refers to a character’s training in a profession. Listed in the table below is the level and skill required to advance to each proficiency. With the Battle for Azeroth pre-expansion patch, the progression status bars were changed for expansion proficiencies (after Artisan). With Patch 3.0.3 the level requirements required to train gathering skills have been removed. For weapon and armor proficiencies (although mostly only armor), see Class proficiencies.

Change in Battle for Azeroth[]
The progression bars (except for Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Proflink/link_icon_data.json' not found.)[5] have changed so that after the base game each expansion has a separate progression bar for points unlike before which had a single bar:[6]

- Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert, and Artisan are all included in this bar.
