My plan to bring down Gnaws worked flawlessly, and I was able to find the artifact I've been after. That's the good news...
The item's been cursed, causing anyone who beholds it to suffer the rest of their existence stuck here - like this.

According to these cursed pirates, there's another artifact capable of lifting the curse, only it was carried off by the gilblins.
