Rake is a druid [cat form] ability learned at level six. It is a basic direct damage melee attack with a damage over time component. The initial damage can critically strike, and is increased by [Mangle]. It is an effective damage technique against high armor enemies (mail and plate wearers), as well as preventing rogues from using [Vanish].

Patch changes

• Patch 6.2.2 (1-Sep-2015): Rake now deals 20% more damage. In PvP combat, Rake now deals 20% less damage.
  
• Patch 6.2.0 (23-Jun-2015): Rake now deals 10% more damage.
  
• Patch 6.1.0 (24-Feb-2015): Rake damage increased by 5%.
  
• Patch 6.0.2 (14-October-2014): Rake now also stuns the target for 4 seconds if used while stealthed, and is only available to Feral Druids.
  
• Patch 4.2.0 (2011-06-28): Rake initial damage on hit now deals the same damage as each periodic tick (and is treated the same for all combat calculations). Periodic damage now gains 14.7% of attack power per tick, up from 12.6%, and base damage per tick has been lowered from 557 to 56. There is a known issue with Rake's tooltip being incorrect from this change will be corrected in a future patch.
  
• Patch 4.0.6 (8-Feb-2011): Rake damage has been reduced by 10%.
  
• Patch 3.2.0 (04-Aug-2009): Ranks 6 and 7 base points on initial and periodic damage reduced by about 7%. Scaling from attack power unchanged.
  
• Patch 3.3.3 (2010-03-23): This ability will now always land. It will no longer sometimes give a "more powerful spell" error message.
  
• Patch 3.0.8 (2009-01-20): The initial damage from this ability is now properly considered bleed damage, and will be increased by Mangle and Trauma.
  
• / Patch 3.0.2 (14-Oct-2008): The damage for this ability has been increased. The initial damage was increased, the bleed effect multiplier increased from 0.06 to 0.18, and gained additional damage.
  
• Patch 2.1.0 (22-May-2007): The tooltip has been adjusted to indicate the initial damage done is bleed damage. In addition, Rake can now always be re-applied, even when Mangle is active.
  
• / Patch 2.0.1 (05-Dec-2006): The initial damage is no longer mitigated by armor.
  
• Patch 1.7.0 (13-Sep-2005): Damage has been increased.
