The Red Smoke Flare item is a pyrotechnic device used primarily to mark a location by placing a red smoke column object on the terrain.

Some uses that people have come up with:

• marking locations for raids
• smoke bomb the Flag Rooms in the Warsong Gulch battleground
• props for floor shows and fashion shows

This item can be purchased for 10 from Skyguard Pyrotechnician in Blade's Edge Mountains, in limited quantities.

The Red Smoke Flare item does not bind, and can be bought and sold at the Auction House.

Notes

The Red Smoke Flare was apparently planned to be an engineering crafted item. The Armory lists ingredients, and the item can be placed in an engineering bag.

The Armory reports the following reagents are required to make this item:

• 1x [Elemental Blasting Powder]
• 1x [Netherweave Cloth]
• 1x [Red Dye]

... but no schematic to make it has ever been discovered on a live server.

Unlike the Hunter Flare ability, Smoke Flares do not influence stealth detection.
