The Sargerei are a hostile organization of Draenei loyal to the Burning Legion and Sargeras. The Alliance encounters them first when  Exarch Othaar <Sha'tari Proconsul> reveals his true identity as the demonic  Socrethar (who was also encountered in Outland of the other timeline) when his betrayal of the Council of Exarchs is revealed in Elodor, Shadowmoon Valley. Members of the Horde will likely encounter the Sargerei in Talador.

History

It is unknown exactly when the Sargerei formed, but it was Exarch Othaar who spurred the defection of some Draenei from under the sway of the Council of Exarchs. Exarch Othaar (also known by his Eredar alias "Socrethar") was a persuasive and compelling leader, writing several books which Sargerei initiates were made to study. Among these writings are: "The Eredar Destiny", "The Purpose of Unity", and "The Promise of Eternity". Through his works, Socrethar expressed his belief that the Draenei are the chosen race. They were never slaves or cowards, hiding from their potential on Argus, as he claimed they did on Draenor. He also wrote that the Draenei possess the knowledge to conquer all forms of magic and technology, even the stars themselves. He preached that Velen was a fool to reject friendship with the Burning Legion, turning his back on paradise when he chose to flee Argus. He urged his followers to ensure the legion's work on Draenor progressed without interruption and in return, the legion would grant them all great power and immortality, like they were originally offered on Argus.

Because of their common goal in aiding the Burning Legion, the Sargerei have been working closely with both the Shadow Council and various Burning Legion agents in an attempt to summon an army of demons to Draenor. This led to their takeover of Auchindoun and later, Shattrath City.

The Sargerei were known to Velen and the Council of Exarchs for some time, however the Sargerei kept the identities of most members secret and were successful in shrouding their use of fel magic from the rest of the Draenei.
