Gates of Ahn'Qiraj Event[]
With the release of Patch 1.9.0, the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj, Medivh quickly organized its forces, led by <One Shot> and <Equilibre> (now known as <Discovery>) and joined by the some of the high end guilds of the server. As Reez from <One Shot> got the [Head of the Broodlord Lashlayer] shortly before Soph from <Equilibre>, they both wanted to complete [The Scepter of the Shifting Sands] : <One Shot> for being the first to loot the head, <Equilibre> for thinking <One Shot> maybe wouldn't be able to complete the Scepter (the [Red Scepter Shard], being acquired by a timed run from Vaelastrasz to Nefarian in less than 5 hours, was still far from both guilds competing for a Nefarian first kill). The head holders agreed to wait for each other for the quest completion, though, shortly after <Equilibre> got its head.
Thus both guilds started their own 36,000 [Silithid Carapace Fragment] farming effort, <Equilibre> being helped by some guilds like <Firehunters> while <One Shot> only had the help of a few individuals.
With a portion of Alliance focusing on the scepter, the progress on the War Effort between the two factions was significantly different. Due to the significant numerical differences between Horde and Alliance (2-4 alliance per 1 horde), it became obvious that the Alliance would finish significantly ahead unless something was done. The solution was to funnel materials via the neutral Auction House.
<Equilibre> got a lead on Nefarian kills and completed the red Scepter fragment, then decided that the Gates would be opened on Thursday 6th April 2006 at 2pm, giving <One Shot> a week to finish its Scepter, a daunting task as <One Shot> had just finished its carapace farming and thus hadn't any scepter fragment yet. Yet they managed to do it barely on time, to the price of a lot of efforts and a bit of luck : a server and instance reset on friday, while they were before Nefarian, gave them enough warmup to achieve a clean 3h15 red fragment run on Sunday.
Opening controversy[]
The first to gong was decided by a Random 100 on the very last moment, on the initiative of Reez, between the two Scepter holders at 1:45 pm. The rationale behind the roll was that :
- Holders agreed to wait for each other when they started
- Both guilds put tremendeous efforts in the quest chain, especially <One Shot> to finish on time
- One holder started the quest chain first (the other could have not started it and chosed a common effort) while the other ended it first (the other could have stopped its quest to not delay the opening) : both had a disputed legitimacy
- While they agreed to ring together, it was clear that the game wouldn't allow for a simultaneous gong : one had to be chosen
- Both would get the Scarab Lord title anyway
The human paladin Reez of <One Shot> won the roll versus the human priest Soph of <Equilibre>, thus rang first, causing a stir amongst <Equilibre> and their supporters, who thought <Equilibre> deserved to ring first for their Scepter completion, in part because Soph didn't tell about the (lost) roll to his guildmates.
As the bang was heard, the server came crashing down : Unending Event --> GM --> Reboot --> Amputated Event.
Both Reez and Soph got the Scarab Lord title and [Black Qiraji Resonating Crystal] without GM intervention, as there is a 10 hours window after the first gong for others to complete their quest.
Medivh Flooding Federation[]
An organisation of players from the Horde and the Alliance, also know as the MFF.
They seem to be led by their most famous flooder : the tauren druid know as Tauric. MFF's members spend a lot of time flooding Medivh's official forum, and flood-raiding realms forums of Nemesis' battlegroup.
The MFF is divided in many sections including :
- Comeback Section
- Medical Section
- Terrorist Section
- SMS Section
