Shooting in World of Warcraft is not that much different from other MMORPG games. Players with the ability to shoot in most cases move to maximum range and then fire a ranged weapon. Shooting is very useful for finishing off an opponent or dealing damage while avoiding the same.
Most ranged weapons (bows, guns, wands, etc.) also had a minimum range where they could not be fired if too close to the target. This mechanic was fully removed in Mists of Pandaria.
In World of Warcraft, there are two types of Shoot: one for wands and one for all other ranged weapons (usable by Rogues and Warriors). The latter ability was removed and only the one for wands remains.
- Patch 5.0.4 (28-August-2012): Rogue and Warrior shoot abilities removed.
- Patch 1.8.0 (10-Oct-2005): Fixed a bug where these abilities could be used faster than intended.
- Patch 1.7.0 (13-Sep-2005): Should no longer cause a global cooldown on all other abilities.
