Southfury

The Southfury River with Ashenvale to the left and Azshara to the right

The Southfury River is likely Kalimdor's most prominent river. Beginning as a small stream in the highlands surrounding Mount Hyjal, it grows into a wide, swift-flowing river that forms the boundary between Ashenvale

Forest and Azshara, and further south, the border between the Northern Barrens and Durotar, where nasty creatures known as crocolisks patrol the waters. The river empties into the Great Sea in a cascading waterfall just northeast of the goblin port town of Ratchet.

There are two bridges that span the Southfury River: one leading into the capital city, Orgrimmar, in the north and one that crosses from Durotar into the Northern Barrens more to the south.

In the Cataclysm, the river floods the southwestern part of Durotar. A goblin with a riverboat, Horton Hornblower, can also be found where the river empties near Ratchet.
