Communication[]

Will you be able to speak to member's of the opposing faction, and possibly even quest with them, as they are technically on the same faction when you're in there.  IconSmall HighElf Male Mr.X8 Talk Contribs 18:17, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

No. We don't even see the opposing faction while in instanced Ebon Hold. --k_d3 19:55, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
So your death knight is alone? How do you duel for that quest then?--User:Sandwichman2448/Sig 19:56, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Members of your faction are around, or you could duel the Death Knight Initiates as per the quest text. --k_d3 20:00, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Will this place still be Neutral to Death Knights and other players after they finish their DK quests, or will it become hostile?  Bill I AM BILL AND I AM A TAUREN HUNTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (talk - contr - web) 02:14, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

The version death knights start in is instanced and inaccessible to anyone other than starting death knights. The version in the "real world" that death knights return to to learn new skills is accessible to everyone and neutral. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 02:34, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Wait, so are Arthas and the other Scourge not in the version you go to after the questlines?Aliron (talk) 03:07, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

No as the non-instanced one is after the Knights of the Ebon Blade break free of the Scourge. Leviathon (talk) 03:11, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

When Acherus is Scourge-aligned and the player can't see players of the other faction, will they be able to see players of the other faction once the DKs leave to the outsie world and go back to te neutral faction? If non DKs can go there, will they be able to other facton members? On a side note, can the DKs ever returned to the instanced part of EPL (New Avalon and all the other places)?  IconSmall HighElf Male Mr.X8 Talk Contribs 15:44, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

To answer your questions: Acherus becomes part of the "big world" after the DK chain so it's open to both sides (hence why it's a sanctuary), yes, you can see other faction members in the non-instanced Acherus, and no, you cannot return to the instanced portion of EPL. --Joshmaul (talk) 20:17, 2 August 2008 (UTC)\

There are, however, Ruins of the Scarlet Enclave in the non-instanced version though. Toran Wildpaw of the Frenzyheart (talk) 19:47, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Shame there's no reason to even go there... except to see how much the place has changed since phase 4. User:Coobra/Sig3 19:56, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Instanced?[]

Sorry if this has been answered or it makes me look like an idiot. How does the instancing work? when you make a death knight, is he/she put into a version of Acherus with only themselves as a player or what? Colann (talk) 05:01, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

I believe there's one instance for Alliance death knights, and one for Horde death knights. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 05:24, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Actually no, There is 2 ebon holds, One that is instanced were all death knights horde AND alliance are both in. Then after the questline death knights are taken to the NON-instanced ebon hold. There isnt two seperate ones for horde and alliance. Just two ebon holds, before your death knight is freed, and after he is freed. You just cant see the other faction members so people dont do gank pvp on people. Theres a spell on wowhead, acherus invisiblity i think, its on your character when you starta death knight i guess and is removed after the questlines.--Whitedragon254 (talk) 18:03, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm confused, I was led to believe that the instanced EH was faction-separate - Alliance and Horde started in their own Scarlet Enclaves (to avoid overcrowding, presumably, or to avoid useless PvP battles). --Joshmaul (talk) 12:02, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
We don't know for sure. I'm of the opinion that it's all one instance. Alliance and Horde characters just cannot see each other. --k_d3 16:04, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

I think there are probably 2 instances. 1 anyone can enter, and 1 for the Death Knights before they finish their chain. --Invin Dranoel (talk) 15:29, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

The one anyone can enter is not an instance, but part of the Eastern Plaguelands. CogHammer Ose talk/3721 15:37, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
There are actually 3 versions then. One is non-instanced and just part of the Eastern Plaguelands. The other two are instanced and are where Death Knights do their starting quests. After they have done that they go to the Plaguelands version. Alliance and Horde start in different instanced versions, hence why they can't see each other. Jormungand01 (talk) 17:40, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Technically there's 9 versions. 4 for alliance DKs, 4 for horde DKs and 1 shared one (in EPL). User:Coobra/Sig3 17:54, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Archerus, the Ebon Hold[]

It's not too far off, people could easily use a comma instead of a colon. Omniferous (talk) 18:13, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

The name is Acherus, not Archerus. User:Gourra/Sig2 18:18, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
It's a typo I've been commonly making until I got the pronunciation right in my head... --k_d3 18:23, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
No, the name is Archerus. The WotLK Beta FAQ clearly says Archerus. --Steveurkelruleslol (talk) 03:20, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
What FAQ may say and what actually appears while in-game are two different things... and apparently it's Acherus: The Ebon Hold, not Archerus, the Ebon Hold. If this however changes when Wotlk is released, changes will be made then. User:Coobra/Sig3 04:26, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
With Archerus being so common a misspelling, why not make a redirect out of it? -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 05:50, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
A redirect would be fine, but he was trying to get the page moved to the wrong name, due to a FAQ, over whats in-game. User:Coobra/Sig3 19:41, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Good Literature[]

I think we should make a list of all the books in the instanced Archus (and any in the uninstanced one) and put it in a section title "Scourge Literature" or something like that. Do I have a second? --"The Scourge shall prevail!" - Scourge-Lord Morec (talk) 21:02, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Notes section[]

This:

The only way for non-death knight player characters to get into Acherus is to have a death knight in your party open a Death Gate for you. Once he/she does so, you can talk to the flight master in order to gain the flightpath to Acherus for easier future access.

was removed as only death knights (party or no party) can enter through the death gate... unless this has recently changed. User:Coobra/Sig3 07:09, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

has anyone tryed using summon friend to get other classes to get the filght path at "Acherus: The Ebon Hold"? i can see the green "!" when standing under it in eastern plaugelands /ArafinweX

It's not possible. The FP is above you, so you can see it but not get to it. IconSmall Dwarf MalePaladin}OkolorionTalk Contribs 00:02, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

Can't Happen, Huh?[]

Paladin-in-acherus
Paladin-in-acherus-2

So... has this happened to anyone else?

While it is tempting to claim the accomplishment, I have to be honest and admit that I did not manage this on purpose. I logged in this evening to find myself aboard the Ebon Hold. I have no idea where I logged out -- it was months ago -- but it certainly cannot have been Acherus.

Danse CC (talk) 06:09, December 5, 2010 (UTC)

In answer to the above question, I clicked on the ghoul flightmaster in Acherus and received the "new flightpath discovered" message, but upon returning to Light's Hope I could not then fly to Acherus. So there's clearly a class block on the flightpath.
