- No User:Sandwichman2448/Sig 22:23, February 10, 2010 (UTC) - (If we do, I think it needs a well detailed disclaimer, or separate sections for the different names and appearances, as we are shoving speculation into the very infrastructure of the page. This vote will set a precedent, and I am not supporting all of the potential merges.)

Loremaster A'noob, Arch Druid of the Noobhoof Clan (talk/contribz) 00:06, March 28, 2010 (UTC) - (No source states they are one only character. A simple sentence in each article should be enough. Like all new Dark Ranger recently added, she is most likely only a reference to the Random Dark Ranger of W3)

Should we merge this with Dark Ranger Anya? It seems very likely they're meant to be the same person, especially with Dark Ranger Clea added as well. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk)
- Firstly, sign your posts. Secondly, I don't think we should do that without an official source. They could be the same person, or they may be completely different. Andreioplst (talk) 21:26, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
- Whoops, forgot to sign. My fault. Anyway, it seems pretty clear to me. One is a Dark Ranger named Anya, the other is named Dark Ranger Anya. And given Blizzard's predilection for using the random hero names for NPCs... -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 21:35, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
- I guess your right, Blizzard will probably never mention that a random hero in WC3 is an NPC in World of Warcraft. But still, they may be different. Maybe a Speculation section should be added? Andreioplst (talk) 21:39, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
- I think it is like Blademaster Akinos Steelclaw and Blademaster Akinos, both are based on the Warcraft III hero, but there is nothing saying that the NPC went to Stormwind.--User:Sandwichman2448/Sig 21:41, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
- Same as Aurius and Aurius the Pure ;) --N'Nanz (talk) 21:56, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
- What's the justification for keeping the two Blademasters named Akinos separate? It's the same issue here; there's nothing EXPLICITLY saying they're the same, but it seems like that's what was intended. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 22:32, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
- There is Samuro and Blademaster Samuro, but I doubt the latter was in a band.--User:Sandwichman2448/Sig 22:49, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
- I'd call him a special case, since the former is supposed to represent a real Blizzard employee. Though didn't we used to have them on the same page? -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 22:54, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
- At one point, yes, they were on the same page.--User:Sandwichman2448/Sig 22:56, October 27, 2009 (UTC)

This is an old issue. I remember it started when pages for NPC listed per classes were created and Aurius was originally named Aurius the Pure because there is a random paladin named as such in WC3 even if in WoW he is named Aurius only. Then it was decided to move the page to the right location even if "they should be (or not) the same character". Thus no, IMO the articles should not be merged. --N'Nanz (talk) 23:19, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
- There's no reason we can't revisit the issue and perhaps decide otherwise, though, as more and more of these sort of NPCs are being added and I see no logical reason to say they're not the same besides "nothing explicitly says so." Given how many other similar things on this wiki have been declared to be the same on flimsier evidence (just look at recent the bone spider/bane spider issue), doing it this way just seems silly. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 23:34, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
- Forum:Bane/Bone spiders uses slightly different reasoning. I want to avoid any fallacies based on lack of information. Besides part of the name and the class, both sides of this issue are using the lack of data proving or disproving things as evidence. Can this be solved with a merge and a detailed disclaimer? Dark T Zeratul, you agreed to this kind of split on Talk:Samuro. Why the change of heart? I can probably relate.--User:Sandwichman2448/Sig 20:03, October 28, 2009 (UTC)
- The difference is that with Samuro, it was a lore character being on the same page as one that's clearly the in-game personification of a Blizzard employee, whereas with Anya it's two lore characters with virtually the same name. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 20:49, October 28, 2009 (UTC)
- I do agree with Dark T Zeratul, though Samuro is somehow ambiguous to lore, this character is very likely intended to be the same as the WoW NPC. Benitoperezgaldos (talk) 23:06, December 20, 2009 (UTC)
- This issue remains unresolved...--User:Sandwichman2448/Sig 19:35, February 10, 2010 (UTC)

They could be relatives first off. I'm not convinced that we should merge it without being sure. BobNamataki (talk) 23:36, March 2, 2010 (UTC)
