Hi, armor penetration is a new attribute that will raise debate. In pvp it iseasy to estimate how it will increase your dps with simple tables. ( formula is on wiki ) But in Pve it is quite a mistery. Indeed bosses armor are more complex. I heard that their damage réduction was capped at the equivalent of a 3500 armor player even if their armor are higher, wich would make that armor penetration would ignore armor that is not usefull to the boss anyway, and therefore make it totally suck :). However the stuff you can buy in shatra with "insigne de justice" ( sorry don't know the english word ) is having some armor penetration. Thsi stuff is usually a pve stuff so i don't know what to think. I myself a shadow priest can't really make the tests.

I'd like to know if someone tried with or without armor penetration damage with egual PA on a 73 boss; i'm curious. same thning with the armor reduction tanks apply to the boss.

Patch 3.1[]

Page updated to reflect patch 3.1 changes. The rating to percentage changes can be confirmed using:

error?[]

"The conversion rate is about 7 ArP = 1 ArP Rating. So if you had 1000 ArP, you now have 142.8 ArP Rating. In the past, this would have been a 6% gain on a 15k armor foe and a 12.5% gain on an 8k armor foe; at level 80 it now gives a 9.2% gain to both targets." Shouldn't that last percentage be 11.6%?
