Major change in patch 2.3[]
In patch 2.3, evocation as we know it will be replaced by a new evocation that does not increase mana regeneration by 1500%, but will regenerate 15% of total mana per 2 seconds for 8 seconds (or 10 seconds with the tier 6 2-piece set bonus). That means if you do not have the tier 6 set bonus you will regenerate 60% of your total mana over 8 seconds of channeling. With the set bonus the total regeneration percentage will be 75% of your total mana over 10 seconds of channeling.
Formula[]
has anyone done the math concerning how much mana you get per point of spirit during a complete evocation cycle?
- Maybe (13+(spi/4)) * 4 [ticks] * 1500 % = 780 + 15 * spi? --bfx 10:04, 17 January 2007 (EST)
- My Dr. Damage addon tells me that I gain 4125 mana with 225 spirit (would be 4155 from the formula) and 3180 mana with 162 spirit (3210 from the formula. So I'd say that the formula suggested is pretty much correct, just a 30 flat difference. It might as well the addon who's wrong. :) Winterchild 12:10, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- I don't know why the formula uses 13 instead of 12.5. On the spirit page, the mage formula is stated in the table as (12.5 + (spi/4)), but is used in the example as (13 + (spi/4)). Doing the math, 0.5 less spirit * 4 ticks * 1500% = 0.5 * 4 * 15 = 30, which is exactly the difference Winterchild reports. Kanthos 11:41, 25 July 2007 (EST)
Spirit Weapon/Offhand/Wand[]
It would be nice to include easy to obtain spirit weapon/offhand/wand items for level 70. Maybe from quests or cheap BoEs. I currently found the Staff of Divine Infusion be quite suitable with +50 Spirit. My offhand is a Mechano-Wand of Spirit (+16 Spirit), though I'm sure there must be better. Spirit Staff/Wand/Trinket[]
The Staff of Divine Infusion is the highest non-epic +spirit staff as far as I know, I got a +20 spirit enchant for it for a total of +70. There are slightly better wands out there, +18 at least. For long fights, you may want to pre-equip a Bangle of Endless Blessings for its use (right before evocating) and its proc. I used it during a Prince fight and got away with using just 1 mana potion and had mana left over at the end. BTW, your best bet is to buy the staff off AH, spirit wands drop randomly everywhere, the bangle drops from Warp Splinter in Botanica. Also, be sure to create 2 macros, 1 to equip your spirit items and 1 to re-equip your normal items after you're done. See the macro section for guidance. Zequel 14:57, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Int based weapon/wand/offhand for improved evocation[]
As of 2.3 intellect based weapons and wands can be used to improve evocation. When increasing or decreasing int, only total mana gets affected, but not the amount of mana you actually have right that moment. Because of this, high intellect weapons and wands can significantly improve evocation.
The best choice for a wand is the Flawless Wand of Intellect at 18 int.
There are several choices for weapons:
For two-handed weapons, Voodoo Hex-Staff of Intellect is the best at 56 int.
Some one-handed weapons combined with Draenei Crystal Rod of Intellect (32 int) would yield the same total int.
Warpdagger of Intellect, Iron Skull Sword of Intellect, and Phantom Dagger of Intellect all have 24 int.
Now slap 30 int enchant on the weapon and you got yourself a total of 104 int. That's 1560 extra mana to boost your total (assuming your weapons have no int to start with). Evocation will give you 60% of that, so that's 936 extra mana.
There are a couple weapons with better int, but they come from raid instances and are healer weapons/wands, so getting them is rather hard. Vinaur 18:51, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
