There is both a page for "Tallstrider" and "Strider". Perhaps there should only be one?

Tallstrider Tribe[]

The link for the Tallstrider Tribe for Tauren links here. Wtf? Saimdusan

The proper name of the beast?[]

I was wondering if Strider is the correct name for these beasties. Most people call them Striders, but if a Hunter tames one, the species name default is "Tallstrider". (The page for Carrion Birds got fixed with their proper name...is this one in need of it too?) --Presea 18:11, 6 December 2006 (EST)

I would just make explicit reference to "tallstrider" as the name for the creature when tamed and redirect to strider. I don't think calling them tallstriders is correct since most of the mobs are named just something strider and not something tallstrider. --Fandyllic (talk) 4:05 PM PST 6 Dec 2006
Oh yeah, I remembered that this ancient Arathi Basin preview featured one as a pet of a Hunter. It was called a "Tallstrider": [1] "Shrieking in rage at its master being in danger, the tallstrider raked and stomped on its fallen foe relentlessly." --Presea 23:13, 7 December 2006 (EST)

It should be "tallstrider", that is the official name of the creature, and all of its subspecies [1] (MoM 169,200).Baggins 19:27, 27 December 2006 (EST)

Tallstrider's diet and behavior[]

It's rather funny that the tallstrider is described in the Manual of Monsters as a vicious carnivore; most tallstriders in-game are neutral and those tamed by hunters will not eat meat, but will happily eat cheese. --Presea 01:13, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Real life Tallstrider[]

Real life Tallstrider Actually a south america Terrorbird, i have added it as inspiration on the mainpage--Gurluas (talk) 14:43, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

My guess is that the tallstrider is based off of the cassowary ([2]) bird - one of the colors of tallstriders mimics its coloration, and tallstriders also have its characteristic casque (the bony head covering). Rutéa (talk) 02:10, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Real life animal[]

Tallstriders resemble Cassowaries more than Ostriches, no doubt about it, with the crest, the colours and the mean attitude. —This unsigned comment is by Junique (talkcontribs) 15:38, October 8, 2011. Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Yup, it definitely looks more like a Cassowary than an Ostrich. --Gengar orange 22x22Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 13 Oct 2011 11:51 AM Pacific
