The name[]
Well the
The name is most probably derived from Russian word "зараза" (zaraza), meaning disease.
guess is awesome but I greatly doubt in this. Зараза has a strong archaic flavour and is almost never used in Russian. Nowadays the word is most used as jargonic adjective meaning "nasty","vile"(this was linked to disease long ago) but I don't think this could be a cause of naming. In Italian and I think in many neolathin laguages razza means ray or more presumably devil-fish since chimaeras fly like a devil-fish swims in the water. Its color are also very similar to a devil-fish. Razza means race too but i think this is not the case. --N'Nanz 15:34, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Or maybe it means nothing at all? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Heenk (talk • contr).
