Thomas Zelling was once a human tidesage of Kul Tiras. Married to Julia Zelling, he was the father of Hannah and Matthew Zelling. During the time of the Blood War, he made a pact with the Forsaken, in which he was reanimated as one due to dying from a sickness. Despite being a member of the Horde, Thomas wanted to protect his family and keep them safely alive from any harm to come. He took part in Baine Bloodhoof's mission to rescue Derek Proudmoore from imprisonment and was later executed by Nathanos Blightcaller under Sylvanas Windrunner's orders due to his involvement.
Biography[]
During the time when the Blood War erupted between the Alliance and Horde, Thomas Zelling was dying from a sickness and had been trying to get better, but the conditions continued to worsen as he was nearly close to succumbing. That was when he made a pact with the Sylvanas Windrunner and the Forsaken. As long as he served the Horde, his family would be protected. After becoming Forsaken, he helped the Horde find the wreck of the Kul Tiran Lost Fleet, where they found the bodies of Marshal M. Valentine and Prince Derek Proudmoore of House Proudmoore.
After Sylvanas had her Val'kyr raise Derek Proudmoore as a Forsaken also and have him imprisoned in the Hall of Ritual, Thomas was deeply shocked, horrified, and angered upon witnessing what Sylvanas just did. Despite having a part in helping Sylvanas claim the body of Derek Proudmoore and making him undead, Zelling felt deeply ashamed that making a pact with Sylvanas was a terrible mistake since he wanted to be with his family, take care of them, and ensure that they had everything they needed. He knew that Derek didn't ask for such a fate and recalled how he died a hero to all of the Kul Tirans.
