The Unbound are mysterious Crystal satyrs in the Forlorn Woods in Crystalsong Forest. It is possible that they were some of the Night elves which lived there.
"Unbound" is a prefix that exists on a few other entities in Crystalsong Forest beyond just the Satyrs.
Speculation[]
Despite being Satyr, The Unbound do not seem to serve or have connections to either The Burning Legion or remnants of Illidan Stormrage's forces that may have followed him to Northrend. This can lead to the conclusion that Night Elves that lived in the settlement of Shandaral (Ruins of Shandaral) may have contracted their power and cause of some turning into Satyr via demonic summoning. Alternatively, it is also possible that the Satyr that inhabit Shandaral may have been there during the events of The Sundering of the World, which the ruining of Shandaral dates back to. With Shandaral being one of the few Kal'dorei settlements in Northrend, being cut off from the rest of the world is potentially the cause in The Unbound's motives towards being independent. With the properties of the forest's crystals causing the change in appearance when compared to other types of Satyr.
