Wiki Manager

Hmmm... so far I've gotten two Wiki Manager messages and both from long time Wikia people! Look forward to working with you.

My main concern is coordinating between WoWWiki and Wowpedia (which has almost none, so far), so anything you can help with on that front is helpful.

It might actually be time to just redirect WoWWiki to Wowpedia, but I don't know how other stakeholders feel about that. --Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 20 May 2019 1:04 PM Pacific

Oh BTW, I'm an admin on Hearthstone wiki, so you don't have to leave me a message or you can make it very brief, if it is under your purview. --Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 20 May 2019 1:12 PM Pacific
Although some wiki mergers/migrations have already happened, I have not heard anything yet about a possible merger between WoWWiki and Wowpedia, so there's no guarantee of that actually happening. Both wikis still get "significant" traffic, so they each have value to a number of users, and by extension, are generating ad revenue. However, if I happen to hear any news on that front, you'll definitely be the first person I talk to about it.
Hearthstone Wiki is also within my management portfolio. I'll be introducing myself over there sometime this week.

"Wowpedia admins are open to trying to working something out, and are willing to discuss if you, I and any other stakeholders on the WoWWiki team are interested."

This is kind of vague. Where would these discussions occur? Are all the Wowpedia admins open or just a subset? Anyway, I ran into a roadblock with getting my account working on Gamepedia due to some Twitch thing (you need a Twitch account to get a Gamepedia account?!), but when I get time to get it working again, I will leave a message on Wowpedia.

In the mean time, just a simple post on either Discussions or Forum by a Wowpedia admin would definitely signal they want to discuss. I think they believe I haven't posted on Wowpedia, because I don't want to, but the real reason is my account got disabled and the email address attached to it is inaccessible. I asked a Gamepedia person to see if they could put a new email in with a Wiki person vouch for it from Wiki data, but apparently that doesn't work for some reason. --Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 21 May 2019 6:51 PM Pacific

I'll be on wiki chat for a while this evening, if you end up seeing this. Just a chance to respond to your rewards question or otherwise what ever you would like to talk about. I'll shoot you a message later if I don't see you. Thanks. Celess22 (talk) 01:57, October 25, 2019 (UTC)

Research on Fandom Wikia

Hi,  I am conducting research on user activity on fandom wikia. I am trying to get responses from as many people from the fandom community as possible so is there a way to spread this survey as much as possible. The survey is quick and completely confidential and it would be extremely helpful if you could take the time to fill it out through the attached link below.

Thank you so much!

Hello again Robin,
So this survey is not just limited to the Minecraft wiki, where we spoke yesterday? Much like the Minecraft wiki, we don't typically advertise peoples' private surveys like this around here. Just a suggestion: when you ask people to take your survey, you may want to give them a bit of information as to who you are and why you are doing the survey. I know you already mentioned to me after I asked on the other wiki, that you're a student and this is for a project. However, when people get random messages like this, and they don't know anything about you, they probably aren't going to want to take the survey, without knowing some more information.

I removed the link to the survey since it violates Fandom's terms of use. We do not allow solicitation of personal information from our users, and this survey asks for very personal details. The user has been blocked since they also posted this on dozens of other walls. Mira Laime (talk) 00:28, February 28, 2020 (UTC)
Good to know! I never went so far as to open the survey and see what the questions were. Just out of curiosity, are divulging browsing habits and answering questions about how you spend your time on Fandom considered as information that is preferred not to be shared?
- Sitb (Message wall / Talk page) 01:01, February 28, 2020 (UTC)
Answering questions and giving out your information are allowed on Fandom (although we of course advise people to be very careful about revealing anything personal online). It's just asking for other people's information that's not allowed. Specifically, you're not allowed to ask minors for their details, and since you don't now who is a minor without asking, you better not ask anyone at all. This survey asked other details, too - not even related to your browsing efforts. Mira Laime (talk) 01:21, February 28, 2020 (UTC)

Correcting correcting spam

The Eastern Kingdoms is not itself a kingdom. Celess22 (talk) 02:04, March 19, 2020 (UTC)

I am aware. I thought I undid that edit that someone else had made, didn't I?
EDIT: Ah, I see what you mean now. Yeah, that edit was meant for a different page. I've corrected it (too many tabs open, I guess).🤣
