I think Kirkburn's point is that the uncolored is the original, which has appeared in published works previously. If we want this site to be respectable and quotable, we must ensure that the official works are the ones afforded a prominent place in the article. --Ragestorm 08:20, 3 August 2006 (EDT)

I guess you're just going to have to go to the Gul'dan article, the Orgrim Doomhammer article, the Cho'Gall article, the Doomguard article, and edit those too then, right? I just think it looks tacky to have the uncolored picture there, and then at the bottom have the colored one. Doesn't look stylish :P // GreenEye

Whether or not it is 'stylish' to have coloured pictures (a point I would disagree with anyway), they are NOT the official pictures, and should not be treated as thus. Your coloured version are in some respects 'fan fiction' - if we have the Blizzard original of a picture, that is the one we should use, unless no alternative is available. I have no problem with both appearing on the pages, so long as it is credited correctly. So yes, the others should also probably be changed. -- Kirkburn 12:09, 3 August 2006 (EDT)

Oh my god, I am giving FULL credit to Chris Metzen for these pictures. They are still the original official Warcraft concept art, with a splash of color. If you want to and put BOTH the non-colored and the colored picture on each and every one of the articles I have added my recolored picture to, sliding my picture down to the very bottom, be my fricking guest.

HEY! Keep it civil, people. GreenEye, Kirkburn's point stems from numerous problems certain users have had in separating fanfic from actual game events. Kirkburn, I think he meant that it wasn't stylish to hav both images there. --Ragestorm 13:30, 3 August 2006 (EDT)

I understand, but my recolors have nothing to do with fanfic! I am honoring Metzen by putting color on his artwork, and I'm doing it completely Warcraft color-ish style. I'm not making a Purple Doomhammer because I have a character called "Purplehammer" and posting that "fanfic" on the official Doomhammer article page. I am trying to recreate the actual character that the article is about, with the correct colors. My recolors are nothing like fanfic, I assure you. // GreenEye

Mmm, in most cases, I would say that any recolor of an artwork that is not official is basically fanfic. Maybe not exactly fiction in the common sense, but it's still an artwork based off of an original piece done by another. Pzychotix 15:06, 3 August 2006 (EDT)
Yeah, I was saying it is fanfic in the sense that the colouring is not done by Blizzard, as Pzychotix says :) This is in no-way to say that your versions aren't good (they *are* good), and I have no problem with your crediting them. Just that the originals must always take precedence - though there is no problem with both appearing :) -- Kirkburn 17:21, 3 August 2006 (EDT)
Actually, GreenEye's images are fanart. If we space the images properly, it will look alright. ;-P --Ragestorm 18:34, 3 August 2006 (EDT)

I suppose we should also go ahead and remove the fanart from the Illidan article, the Scourge article, the High Elf article, etc. Fanart is fine, and GreenEye's coloring is damn good. --Kakwakas 02:13, 4 August 2006 (EDT)

Fanart isn't the problem. There's no problem with fanart on this site. It's the fact that there's an official one that's the exact same thing, just not colored. Pzychotix 03:38, 4 August 2006 (EDT)
Also, a lot of fanart has actually been obtained from Blizzard's website, so in that capacity they are official. And to look at it, you'd never know the one on the Illidan page isn't professional (actually, it might be- but that's not the point). --Ragestorm 08:08, 4 August 2006 (EDT)
Right, so what have we agreed to here? Are you guys going to get over yourselves and let WoW Wiki be a fun place where people share their interest in Warcraft, or are you going to police the articles and do stuff by the official book? // GreenEye
I'll admit, I'm not entirely sure. Anyway, we already police the articles in a manner of speaking- many articles have far more serious problems than the one discuessed here. I'll take this moment to apoligize using your talk page for this, GreenEye. --Ragestorm 12:40, 7 August 2006 (EDT)
Apology accepted. :) And that's EXACTLY what I am saying, why be so damn nit-picky about wether or not a colored original, or an original is on an article (when they're the exact same picture originally anyway) when it's all in good fun, and trying to the atmosphere on WoW Wiki be alittle more "homey", while you have people going around vandalizing articles with "tits, hehe" ?
While I understand you point, I has always maintained that WoWWiki should be far less "homey." We must endeavour to to be a center of excellence in Warcraft information. I think we're still a ways from that goal. --Ragestorm 13:02, 7 August 2006 (EDT)
If that's the case, (no offense) you need some lore mistakes sorted out in lots of articles :) GreenEye
With all due respect, if you see mistakes ... FIX them. Just because there are mistakes elsewhere doesn't make this discussion any less valid :) I'm in no way advocating the removal of your re-coloured pictures, but the Blizzard originals (i.e. those originating from Blizzard and/or affiliated parties) should also be included where appropriate. -- Kirkburn 16:04, 7 August 2006 (EDT)
If you could furnish myself or another Bookkeeper with your lore complaints we sould look into them. And if you're referring to the Art of War on the Night Elf page, believe me, I'm keeping an eye on that abomination. --Ragestorm 18:38, 7 August 2006 (EDT)
GreenEye, while the jury may or may not be out over original vs. colored, blatantly replacing a completely different image with your recolored is out of the question. Your recolored is still in the article, but the old image has been restored.--Ragestorm 16:42, 8 August 2006 (EDT)
