The Whispering Forest

[17, 62]

is a subzone of western Tirisfal Glades surrounded by hills and mountains just south of a large, unnamed lake. Unlike most of the larger parent zone, it has plague-infected mobs around level 80 or higher.

In the forest itself is a circle of fungi, sometimes called a 'Fairy Ring', where non-hostile creatures can be found performing some sort of ceremony. There are very few of these formations in the game.

On a small island amidst the unnamed lake is a rather detailed fishing spot, with what seems to be unique objects such as a folding chair and filled bait-and-tackle box. Next to this is a skeletal fisherman with a sword sticking out of a peculiar spot.

At the bottom of the lake east of this island is a rather well-known Easter-egg: A crashed dwarf or gnome plane paired with its pilot's skeleton.

Speculation[]

Questionmark-medium This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials.*
  • The "fairy ring" could be a reference to a cut scene cinematic from Warcraft III where Malfurion Stormrage goes into the hills around Lordaeron to commune with the spirits of the local forests in order to ascertain what was plaguing them. The fairy ring and the active critters supports the druidism, given a correlation with spells like Wild Mushroom. The relations to the druid class were further supported when the druid glyph One With Nature teleported the user here as well as other druidic locations.
  • This was believed to be related to the idea of the possibility that an Old God is under Tirisfal, but the beliefs were diminished when It was stated at Blizzcon that there is something under Tirisfal that is "Isn't an Old God but is definitely not nice".[citation needed]
