Willem was a resident of Southshore when Anduin Lothar and the survivors of Stormwind arrived from across the Great Sea after losing the First War.

Willem, being the town's finest rider, was immediately sent to Capital City on horseback by Marcus Redpath to inform King Terenas of what had transpired and of the visit he would soon recieve from Prince Varian Wrynn, the rightful heir to Stormwind, and Regent Lord Lothar. ^{(ToD 7)}
